Bhubaneswar: A violent altercation between two brothers turned deadly late Monday night when a country‑made bomb exploded, killing one man on the spot and seriously injuring his father.
The incident took place at about 9 pm in Shipur village under Samal police station in Angul district.
According to police, an argument erupted between Prabodh (55) and his brother Trinath over an unknown issue. The quarrel escalated, and Prabodh allegedly chased Trinath with a crude bomb he kept at home. Trinath’s son Saroj Pradhan (26), who tried to intervene, was caught in the blast and died instantly.
Prabodh, grievously hurt by the explosion, was first taken to a nearby hospital and later shifted to the Angul District Headquarters Hospital. As his deteriorated, and he was transferred to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack for advanced care.
Police have launched an investigation, and the exact motive behind the feud is still under scrutiny.
