Bhubaneswar: In a significant development, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has decided to hand over the investigation of the Police Sub-Inspector Recruitment Examination scam to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
The decision comes amid allegations of widespread irregularities and corruption in the recruitment process, with probes suggesting the involvement of an inter-state organised criminal gang.
The state government’s preliminary investigation, conducted by the Crime Branch CID, has revealed that the corruption may have spread to other states, including Andhra Pradesh and West Bengal. The CM’s decision aims to ensure a thorough investigation, expose the corruption, and bring the culprits to justice.
Furthermore, the state government is considering establishing a permanent commission for selecting personnel in the police and other uniformed services to prevent such incidents in the future. This move is expected to bring transparency and accountability to the recruitment process.
