CM Mohan Majhi Expresses Grief Over Stampede At Andhra Temple

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has expressed deep grief over the tragic stampede at Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple in Andhra Pradesh’s Srikakulam district, which claimed nine lives, mostly women and children.

“Deeply shocked and saddened by the tragic stampede at Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple in Kasibugga, Srikakulam. My prayers are with the bereaved families, and I wish a speedy recovery to all those affected,” Majhi posted on ‘X’.

The incident occurred during Ekadashi celebrations, with a massive gathering of devotees leading to chaos and panic. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also expressed grief and announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each to the next of kin of the deceased and Rs 50,000 to the injured.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his grief over the incident and announced compensation for the victims.

“Pained by the stampede in Venkateswara Swamy Temple in Srikakulam, Andhra Pradesh. My thoughts are with those who have lost their near and dear ones. I pray that the injured recover soon,” he said, the PMO said in an X post.

The PM also announced ex gratia of Rs 2 lakh each from the PMNRF to be given to the next of kin of those who lost their lives, while the injured would be given Rs. 50,000
