Elephant Killed In Train Accident In Mayurbhanj

Mayurbhanj: A tusker was killed after being hit by a speeding train on the railway track near Betanati Range and Baishinga police station in Mayurbhanj district.

The elephant was hit by the Shalimar Express train while crossing the railway tracks late at night.

According to reports, a herd of over 20 elephants, including the deceased, had been roaming in the area. On the night of the incident, the elephant was crossing the tracks near Shravan village when it was struck by the train around 11:30 pm. The impact was fatal, and the elephant died on the spot.

The train was halted for some time following the accident. Forest department officials reached the scene and initiated an investigation into the incident.
