Jharsuguda: In a commendable citizen service initiative, Jharsuguda Police on Monday organized the ‘Mobile Handover Mela 2025’ at the District Police Office to return lost and stolen mobile phones to their rightful owners.
Under the guidance of Superintendent of Police G.R. Raghavendra, a total of 101 mobile phones reported lost, missing, or stolen were traced, recovered, and handed over during the event. The recovery was made possible through continuous technical tracking by the Jharsuguda Cyber Cell, in coordination with various police stations across the district.
Among the recovered devices, four phones had been missing since 2021, while one each dated back to 2022 and 2023, reflecting the department’s commitment to tracing even long-pending cases.
Police stations that reported the highest recoveries included Jharsuguda (30 phones), Lakhanpur (18), and Laikera (17), followed by others such as Brajrajnagar, Banharpali, Kolabira, Airport, Badmal, Sadar, Orient, Belpahar, and Rengali.
Urging citizens to promptly report cases of mobile theft or loss, Jharsuguda Police advised the public to register complaints through the CEIR portal (https://ceir.gov.in) or by visiting the nearest police station for faster tracking and recovery.
