Cuttack: With just two days left for the Historic Baliyatra to begin, preparations are in full swing in Cuttack. The district administration is giving final touches to the arrangements to make this year’s fair even more vibrant and memorable.
To add new attractions for visitors, several innovative features have been introduced this year, including an anamorphic 3D screen, an experience zone, electric dhol performances, a vintage car exhibition, a filigree (tarakasi) art gallery, 5D theater, and water sports on the Mahanadi River. A spectacular laser light show will also illuminate the river for three consecutive days.
Officials said all preparations for the mega event have been completed. From the inaugural day to the closing ceremony, visitors can enjoy various water-based adventure sports such as boating, rowing, canoeing, and kayaking.
The highlight of this year’s Baliyatra will be the “Cuttack in Cuttack” pavilion, themed around Odia language and literature. The pavilion, now receiving its final decorative touches, will host discussion circles, literary sessions, and student participation events aimed at celebrating and promoting Odia heritage.
Adding a touch of artistry, a sand sculpture of a traditional boat — 30 feet wide and 10 feet tall — is being crafted at the pavilion site. With these creative additions, anticipation is building over how this year’s Baliyatra will captivate visitors from across the state and beyond.
