Bhubaneswar: A tense situation prevailed in Ostapur-Kotapala village under Baghmari police station in Khordha district, after fresh violence erupted over a boundary dispute on Thursday. The district administration imposed Section 163 in the area to maintain law and order.
The clash, which began on Wednesday, was sparked by a dispute over the installation of a village name signboard. The situation escalated, with both sides pelting stones, glass bottles, and other objects, injuring several people and damaging several shops.
According to reports, the violence began when villagers from both sides clashed, leading to a melee. The police, led by the Khordha SP, arrived at the scene and managed to calm the situation. However, tensions remained high, prompting the imposition of Section 163 today.
Police have appealed to residents to maintain peace and cooperate with law enforcement to prevent further escalation.
