Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar has forecast a period of predominantly dry weather across Odisha for the coming week, with a notable fall in minimum temperatures expected after the next two days.

According to the midday weather bulletin issued on Thursday, no significant weather systems are currently affecting the region. The day’s observations reported shallow fog in the interior districts of Sundergarh and Kalahandi, while dry conditions prevailed elsewhere.

A significant variation in temperature was recorded across the state. Paralakhemundi recorded the day’s highest maximum temperature at 34.2°C, while Phulbani, in the plains of South Odisha, registered the lowest minimum temperature at 13.0°C. The IMD noted that minimum temperatures have seen a marked fall of about 4°C in some parts of South Coastal Odisha.

The weather outlook for the next week is largely stable, with one minor exception:

Day 1 (Today until tomorrow morning): Light rain is very likely at one or two places over the districts of South Odisha.

Day 2 to Day 7: Dry weather is expected to prevail across all districts of Odisha.

Residents can expect a gradual shift in night-time temperatures. The IMD has stated that there will be “no large change” in the minimum temperature for the next two days. However, a fall of 2°C to 3°C is anticipated over the subsequent three days, signalling the onset of cooler nights.

For the state capital, Bhubaneswar, the forecast for the next 24 hours predicts fog or mist in the morning hours, giving way to a mainly clear sky later. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 33°C and 17°C, respectively.
