Baripada: A minor boy was allegedly sustained severe injuries after being stabbed by miscreants near Bhanjpur railway station in Baripada late on Friday night when he had gone to visit the Jagaddhatri fair with his friends.
According to reports, the victim, identified as Akash Nayak, along with his friend Sanjay Nayak and other youths, had gone to attend the Jagadhatri Mela. While Sanjay was urinating near the railway station, he was attacked by a group of 7-8 youths. Akash, who was accompanying Sanjay, was stabbed by the assailants when Sanjay managed to escape from their clutch.
The attackers fled the scene, leaving Akash severely injured. Sanjay subsequently informed his uncle Subham, who rushed Akash to the District Headquarters Hospital. Due to his critical condition, Akash was later referred to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack for further treatment.
The Railway Protection Force (RPF) has launched an investigation into the incident.
