Bhubaneswar: BJP candidate for the Nuapada Assembly by-election, Jay Dholakia, on Tuesday cast his vote at a polling booth in the constituency, pledging to work for the development of the region and the welfare of its residents.
Speaking to reporters after casting his vote, Dholakia said that his entire family had come out to exercise their franchise.
“The atmosphere is good. I had darshan of Prabhu Mahadev and sought His blessings. The entire Dholakia family is here to contribute to the development of Nuapada and public welfare. Independent candidate Bhakta Bandhu Dharua has also joined us. I believe the people of Nuapada will vote for those who work for their needs and the region’s development,” he said.
The Nuapada seat fell vacant following the demise of sitting BJD MLA and Jay Dholakia’s father, Rajendra Dholakia.
From the Biju Janata Dal (BJD), Snehangini Chhuria is contesting the by-election, while Congress has fielded Ghasiram Majhi.
Polling in Nuapada is being held amid tight security, with arrangements in place to ensure smooth voting.
