Bhubaneswar: Residents of Odisha woke up to chilly conditions as a cold wave has set in across several districts, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Wednesday. Night temperatures are expected to drop by 2–3°C over the next 24 hours, with no significant change thereafter.
According to the IMD, Jharsuguda, Kandhamal, and Sundargarh are among the worst-affected districts. On Wednesday night, temperatures are likely to fall to 10°C in Phulbani, Sundargarh, Rourkela, and Jharsuguda. Keonjhar and Angul may record 12°C, while Dhenkanal, Koraput, and Bhadrak could see temperatures around 13°C.
On Thursday night, Phulbani is expected to remain at 10°C, while Jharsuguda, Angul, and Rourkela may record 11°C.
The IMD has advised residents, especially the elderly and children, to take precautions against the cold.
