Cuttack: A joint search operation by the fire brigade and police is underway at the Devi river ghat near Similda under Govindpur police station limits in Cuttack district, after three persons went missing and are feared to have drowned.
The missing individuals have been identified as Shashi Bhoi of Paika Pada, Ratnakar Bhoi of Bishipada, and Bharat Pradhan of Nahalpur — all residents under the same police station jurisdiction.
According to reports, the trio had gone to the river earlier in the day but did not return home for several hours. Concerned family members began searching for them and discovered their clothes left behind on the riverbank. Fearing that they might have drowned, the families alerted local authorities.
Following the information, a fire brigade team, along with local police personnel, reached the spot and launched an extensive search operation in the river. However, no trace of the missing persons had been found until late evening.
Efforts are continuing, and local sources said rescue operations will resume at first light on Friday if necessary.
