Malkangiri: A joint operation by the BSF from Company Operating Base (COB) Bodigetta and the State Police on Sunday led to the recovery of a large cache of arms, explosives, and Maoist literature in remote areas under Kalimela Police Station in Malkangiri district.
The recovered items included an improvised directional mine, a pistol, live cartridges, blank rounds, gelatin sticks, electronic devices, and Maoist books.
According to an official press release, based on actionable intelligence, the operation targeted areas near Goregandi Village. During the search, teams discovered several items hidden beneath a rock cave near Dulagandi Village in Bejangiwada RF under Kurmanur gram panchayat. Recovered items include one improvised directional mine, one pistol, 150 live 7.62 mm cartridges, 170 empty firing cases, 10 blank rounds, 14 books of Maoist literature, 110 gelatin sticks, two 125-decibel electronic trumpets, and one sensor.
“BSF and State Police have been relentlessly conducting operations in the highly Naxal-affected areas of Malkangiri district. Such recoveries strike a blow to Maoist strategies and weaken their morale in the face of the growing dominance of security forces,” read the press release.
Security forces continue to maintain area dominance, conducting combing and search operations to ensure the safety of residents and personnel. Authorities said such operations will continue in the highly Naxal-affected Malkangiri district.
