Bhubaneswar: The 31st Board meeting of Rourkela Smart City Limited was held on Sunday, with Development Commissioner-cum-Additional Chief Secretary Anu Garg chairing the session. Usha Padhee, Principal Secretary of the Housing and Urban Development Department, Sundargarh Collector Subhankar Mohapatra and RSCL CEO Dheenah Dastageer also attended the meeting.
The Board took stock of the progress of major ongoing projects, examined operational challenges and discussed strategies for maintenance and revenue generation. Officials shared detailed updates on the city’s development initiatives and the road ahead for the Smart City programme.
During the review of the Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC), the Board urged Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) to expedite its work to ensure the project is completed within the stipulated timeline. The Board also assessed the status of the ‘Rourkela One’ project, noting satisfactory progress—particularly the construction of the City Command Centre (CCC) building and the Tribal Museum building.
A significant portion of the meeting was dedicated to an in-depth discussion on the Tribal Museum’s soft components, including content development, Tribal Huts, artifacts and shrine crafts. Updates were also presented on other flagship projects such as the Big Recreation Park and Vedvyas Heritage Development.
The meeting reaffirmed the Smart City initiative’s commitment to accelerating urban development in Rourkela and improving the quality of life for its residents.
