Mission Power: CM Majhi Tells Collectors To Ensure Basic Services In Every Village By 2027

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Tuesday  called upon District Collectors to work in “mission mode” to ensure the timely implementation of ‘Mission Power’, the government’s flagship programme aimed at providing all-weather roads, electricity and drinking water to every village in Odisha by 2027. He was speaking at the inauguration of the two-day joint conference of District Collectors and Superintendents of Police at the Lok Seva Bhavan Convention Centre in Bhubaneswar.

Emphasising that public service lies at the heart of good governance, Majhi urged officers to stay connected with people, listen patiently to their concerns and address issues with sincerity. He said that while the government continues to roll out development-driven initiatives inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mantra of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas”, the real success of any scheme lies in its execution at the grassroots.

The Chief Minister highlighted the government’s ongoing efforts to promote industrialisation in all 30 districts and directed Collectors to extend full facilitation to investors within the framework of established policies. He also instructed them to closely monitor the implementation of government decisions and announcements, review progress of welfare programmes every three to four months, curb illegal mining of minor minerals, strengthen enforcement against illicit liquor, and prevent paddy smuggling during the procurement season. In tribal-dominated districts, he stressed lawful support for tribal communities in the collection and marketing of minor forest produce.

Majhi called for corruption-free, transparent administration and advised officers to ensure that all official documents, notices and communications at district and block levels are issued in Odia. He also reminded them to treat elected representatives with courtesy and respect during official interactions.

Deputy Chief Minister and Women & Child Development Minister Pravati Parida said that meaningful governance depends on seamless coordination between the government and the administration. She urged Collectors to complete people-centric schemes on time and maintain regular field visits to address citizen grievances.

Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari noted that the government has launched several welfare schemes over the past 18 months and that the Revenue Department, being the administrative backbone, must ensure delivery of essential services. He called for immediate implementation of pending proposals on revenue village recognition, faster processing of forest rights for tribal communities, and careful relief and rehabilitation during land acquisition.

Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja advised Collectors to ensure that the administration reaches every corner of their districts and that citizens receive services with dignity. Development Commissioner Anu Garg delivered the welcome address, while Additional Chief Secretary Surendra Kumar proposed the vote of thanks.
