Bhubaneswar: In a major crackdown, the Saheed Nagar police on Wednesday arrested nine persons involved in illegal RTO-related activities near the Regional Transport Office (RTO), Bhubaneswar-1. The raid was carried out under the supervision of Bhubaneswar DCP Jagmohan Meena.
During the operation, the police seized nine laptops and two printers from the accused. A case has been registered at the Saheed Nagar police station under Case No. 551 dated 19.11.2025, under relevant BNS sections. All the accused will be produced in court today.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP Zone-V) Biswa Ranjan Senapati said the arrested persons were illegally offering services such as learner’s license (LL) tests, driving license (DL) tests, vehicle registration, and insurance processing.
“They misled the public by claiming to be RTO staff, collecting huge sums of money and cheating both citizens and the government,” Senapati said.
Senapati added that the accused used laptops and printers to appear legitimate and carried out their operations on a large scale. “The police acted suo motu to stop this illegal racket,” he said.
The ACP further confirmed that investigations are ongoing to determine if any official RTO staff were involved.
“If any evidence of collusion is found, strict action will be taken,” he said.
