Puri: A young man’s body was found in a drain near Pitapada, under Ramachandi police station, on Sunday.
The deceased has been identified as Jeevan Bhoi, son of Rabi Bhoi, a resident of Pitapada.
According to reports, Jeevan had gone to visit his friends on Saturday evening and did not return. His family members filed a missing person complaint at Ramachandi police station on Sunday.
Locals suspect that Jeevan might have died due to electrocution from an electric fence installed to protect crops from wild boars.
Meanwhile, police have started an investigation and sent the body for post-mortem examination to Puri District Headquarters Hospital.
The incident has raised concerns among the local community, with many questioning the safety measures taken to prevent such accidents. The police are yet to confirm the exact cause of death, and an inquiry is underway.
