Bhubaneswar: As part of the ongoing Zero Fatality Fortnight road safety initiative, Central Range Police conducted an intensive Naka and patrolling drive on 23 November 2025, checking 1,769 vehicles across seven districts and collecting a total of ₹6,65,000 in fines for various traffic violations.

Among the districts, Puri (540 checks) and Nayagarh (593 checks) recorded the highest number of vehicle inspections. Khordha, with just 60 vehicles checked, accounted for the highest fine collection at ₹3,68,000, indicating stricter enforcement or higher penalties for detected violations. Other districts reporting significant activity included Jajpur (336 checks, ₹42,500 collected) and Kendrapara (163 checks, ₹9,000 collected).

Officials said the Central Range continues to intensify enforcement to curb road accidents, ensure safe mobility and create stronger deterrence against traffic rule violations during the Zero Fatality Fortnight campaign. The drive will continue with similar focus on compliance, monitoring and public safety across all districts.
