Bhubaneswar: In a significant crackdown, the Odisha Vigilance team arrested Abhimanyu Behera, Assistant Revenue Inspector (ARI) of Nikirei R.I Circle under Derabish Tahsil in Kendrapara district, for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 12,000 from a landowner.
According to a release issued by the Odisha Vigilance, the landowner had applied for the conversion of agricultural land to homestead land on October 31, 2025. Behera allegedly demanded Rs 15,000 as a bribe for a favourable report, later reducing it to Rs 12,000. The landowner approached the vigilance authorities, leading to Behera’s arrest at his office.
The entire bribe amount has been seized, and searches are underway at two locations of Behera’s premises.
A case (Cuttack Vigilance PS Case No. 33/2024) has been registered, and investigation is ongoing.
