Bhubaneswar: A well-marked low-pressure area over the Strait of Malacca and adjoining south Andaman Sea has intensified into a depression and is expected to develop into a cyclonic storm over the South Bay of Bengal by November 27, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
Under its influence, heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected over the Andaman and Nicobar Islands on November 28. However, no warning has been issued for Odisha, and the potential cyclone is not expected to have any impact on the state.
Once it reaches cyclonic storm intensity, the system will be named Cyclone ‘Senyar’.
The IMD also issued no warnings for fishermen along the Odisha coast for the next five days.
