Bhubaneswar: Two sisters, aged 8 and 14, sustained severe injuries after a crude bomb, allegedly meant for hunting purposes, exploded at Jayantipur village under Chilika block in Khordha district.
According to reports, the girls, identified as Rajalakhmi Behera (8) and Rajeswari Behera (14), brought home a bomb they found in a nearby forest, thinking it was something else. They were playing with the bomb near their home when it exploded, causing severe injuries.
Rajlakhmi’s hand was severely damaged, while Rajeswari’s face was badly burnt. The girls have been admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Bhubaneswar for treatment.
The incident has sparked outrage among locals, who are demanding the arrest of the person responsible for planting the bomb in the forest, allegedly for hunting purposes.
