Cuttack: The Orissa High Court has asked the state government to clarify the number of infiltrators currently residing in Odisha and detail the official measures taken so far to identify and deport them. The court has also granted the government three weeks’ time to submit its response.
The direction came during the initial hearing of a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by advocate Shiba Shankar Mohanty, who has sought the formation of a dedicated Task Force to trace infiltrators in the state and initiate their deportation.
Taking note of the submissions, the High Court directed the government to present all relevant facts through an affidavit within the stipulated three-week period. The matter will be taken up after the state files its detailed reply.
