Bhubaneswar: Jharsuguda district has recorded its lowest November temperature in 71 years, with the mercury dipping to 8.1°C.
According to weather scientist Uma Shankar Das, this breaks the previous record of 8.4°C set on November 30, 1970. Other notable low temperatures in November include 8.6°C on November 26, 1970, 8.9°C on November 29, 1970, and 9°C on November 25, 1970.

It is pertinent to mention that after a brief respite, winter has returned to Odisha.
According to the IMD, the cold wave is expected to continue, with the night temperature likely to remain below 15°C in most places of interior and southern Odisha on Thursday and Friday. However, after 2 days, the night temperature is expected to rise by 2-3°C over the next 5 days.
