Bhubaneswar: President Droupadi Murmu on Thursday inaugurated the newly built ‘Kalinga Atithi Nivas’ on the Raj Bhavan premises in Bhubaneswar as she began her two-day visit to Odisha.
The modern guest facility, designed to accommodate visiting VVIPs, showcases elements of Odisha’s ancient art, culture and architectural heritage, officials said.
Later in the day, President Murmu is set to create history by becoming the first President of India to address the Odisha Legislative Assembly. The moment holds added significance as she hails from Odisha and is a former member of the state Assembly.
Earlier, Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and senior officials welcomed the President upon her arrival at Biju Patnaik International Airport.
