Bhubaneswar: A Special Vigilance Court in Berhampur on Thursday sentenced former Counter Assistant Jayanti Kumari Mohanty of the Red Cross Blood Bank at MKCG Medical College & Hospital to three years of rigorous imprisonment for misappropriating government funds.
Mohanty, who had been disengaged from service earlier, was found guilty under Sections 13(2) read with 13(1)(c)(d) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, and Sections 409, 468, 471, 477-A and 120-B of the IPC.
Odisha Vigilance had charge-sheeted her for manipulating duplicate receipts by reducing the recorded amounts in daily collection slips and thereby misappropriating government money.
After examining the evidence, the court convicted her and imposed a fine of ₹10,000, with a default clause of additional imprisonment.
