Bhubaneswar: Leader of Opposition Naveen Patnaik praised President Droupadi Murmu’s remarkable journey, saying, “We are all proud that the daughter of this land is sitting in the highest position in the country.” Patnaik began his speech in the State Assembly, highlighting the honour of praising the President.
He recalled Murmu’s 25-year political career, which began in the Odisha Assembly, and noted that she has brought glory to the state by becoming President. Patnaik emphasised Odisha’s progress in disaster management, women’s empowerment, infrastructure development, healthcare reforms, and climate-resilient industrial growth.
Patnaik hailed her as a “daughter of the land” who has brought glory to Odisha by becoming the President of India. Patnaik emphasised Odisha’s significant contributions to India’s unity and progress, citing the state’s role in integrating princely states post-Independence and the creation of a separate province based on language, led by Utkal Gourav Madhusudan Das.
He also lauded Odisha’s achievements in disaster management, food production, women’s empowerment, and infrastructure development, crediting the people of Odisha for their support.
“Unity in diversity is the beauty of our nation,” Patnaik said, highlighting India’s rich cultural heritage. He expressed confidence that Murmu’s leadership would preserve the country’s soul and inspire future generations.
Patnaik also praised Odisha’s rich natural resources and wildlife, saying, “Unity in diversity is a speciality of India.” He acknowledged the country’s current challenges but highlighted language, lifestyle, and culture in enriching Indianness.
