Baripada: A cold wave has swept across areas under the Similipal National Tiger Reserve, with temperatures plummeting to 3°C at Upper Baraha Kamuda (UBK) Area.
Regional Chief Conservator of Forests (RCCF) Prakash Chand Gogineni has reported that the mercury has dipped significantly, bringing chilly weather to the region.
Going by the information provided by RCCF, UBK has recorded a low of 3 °C. Other areas in the reserve have also recorded low temperatures, including Chahala (7°C), Barehipani (8°C), Gurguria (9°C), Kiajhari and Ramatirtha (13°C each), and Satkosia (14°C). The temperature readings were recorded on Friday at 6 am.
Meanwhile, the cold wave is affecting the region, with locals and wildlife struggling to cope with the chilly weather.
