18 Coastal Police Stations Set Up To Enhance Maritime Security: CM Majhi

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has taken several measures to bolster coastal security, with the establishment of 18 coastal police stations and the deployment of security personnel. The Assembly was also informed that initiatives like ‘Operation Sajag’ and ‘Sagar Kavach’ were being undertaken to curb infiltration and smuggling along the maritime border.

The Chief Minister, Mohan Charan Majhi, replied to a question raised by MLA Tusharkanti Behera regarding the measures taken by the state government to prevent infiltration and smuggling through the state’s maritime border.

CM also stated that the government has established 18 coastal police stations in the state to curb infiltration and smuggling. Besides, the government has also deployed Special Police Officers (SPOs) on fishing boats to enhance surveillance. Additionally, the government has approved the deployment of five hovercrafts for patrolling along the coast and 15 FIB (Fast Interceptor Boat) for coastal surveillance.

The government has also provided four All-Terrain Vehicles (ATVs) for patrolling the coast and 10 high-speed boats for rescue operations. A budget of Rs 26.194 crore has been allocated for the coastal security plan for 2025-26.
