Bhubaneswar: Twenty students of Government High School Lankaput, who had gone missing from the school hostel on Monday morning, were found safe near Kolab Reservoir of Koraput district today at around 2 pm.
The students, all from classes I to V, were located approximately 10 km away from the hostel. Their parents, who had joined the search, accompanied the children back to the school hostel.
The Block Development Officer (BDO), along with the Assistant Block Education Officer and school staff, visited the school to oversee the situation. Counseling sessions are currently underway to understand the circumstances that led to the incident.
According to reports, the hostel cook noticed the absence of 20 students during the morning headcount and immediately informed the school authorities. The parents were notified and began searching in nearby areas, which ultimately led to the safe recovery of the students.
The children were reportedly in good health.
