Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Wednesday extended his greetings and best wishes to persons with disabilities across the state on the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
This year, the United Nations has declared the theme as “Promoting a disability-inclusive society to advance social progress.” Highlighting the importance of inclusion, CM Majhi emphasised that ensuring the social, economic, and intellectual development of persons with disabilities is essential for their full participation in society.
Taking to social media platform ‘X’, the Chief Minister noted that people with disabilities are achieving remarkable success in various fields. “Many have become teachers, doctors, writers, and artists, demonstrating their immense potential and resilience,” he said.
He further stressed the need for collective efforts to raise awareness about the challenges faced by persons with disabilities, uphold their dignity, protect their rights, and ensure their welfare.
“Through these initiatives, we can truly integrate persons with disabilities into the mainstream of society. Proper recognition and utilisation of their capabilities will help guide our society on the path of progress,” CM Majhi added.
On the occasion, the Chief Minister appealed to all citizens of Odisha to extend their support, friendship, and harmony toward persons with disabilities, calling upon society to create an environment where every individual can thrive.
