Country-Made Gun Factory - Kandhamal

Bhubaneswar: In a major breakthrough, Kandhamal police on Thursday raided an illegal country-made gun manufacturing unit at Pangapara village under Gochhapada police station and arrested a man involved in the operation.

The accused has been identified as Banchhanidhi Bindhani. During the raid, police seized three country-made guns, a pistol, barrels, three steel rods, cutting machines, wooden frames, and other equipment used in the illegal manufacture of firearms.

Speaking to the media, Kandhamal SP Harisha B.C. said, “The accused was illegally manufacturing guns at his residence. Those supporting him and other accomplices are currently absconding. We have already identified them and will take strict action.”

SP Harisha further added that Bindhani had previously been arrested in 2016 for similar gun-making activities. After his release, he reportedly resumed the same illegal operations.
