Bhubaneswar: Former MLA Mohammad Moquim has expressed his reaction after being expelled from the Congress party, stating, “I am happy that action has been taken against me. My ideology is with the Congress.” Moquim claimed he didn’t do anything wrong and doesn’t regret writing the letter to Sonia Gandhi, which led to his expulsion.
Moquim said he wrote the letter expecting reforms within the party, but instead, action was taken against him. He announced plans to discuss his next steps with supporters and advisors, stating, “Give me a few days, I will let you know which party I will join next.”
The expulsion was approved by the AICC on the proposal of PCC President Bhakta Charan Das, citing “anti-party activities”. Moquim’s daughter, Sophia Firdous, is a Congress MLA and will make her own decision, he added.
Moquim had written to Sonia Gandhi, expressing concerns over the party’s decline and leadership issues, including Rahul Gandhi’s inaccessibility. He sought reforms and new leadership, saying, “Age is not on AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge’s side”.
