Brahmagiri (Puri): Three persons were seriously injured after a wild boar went on the rampage in villages under the Brahmagiri forest range in Puri district on Monday, triggering panic among local residents.
According to sources, the wild boar attacked one person identified as Dija Bhoi in Lambitala village while he was grazing goats. In a separate incident, the animal attacked Sadananda Swain of Siriapura village while he was standing near a pond. Besides, Satya Pradhan of Gaudabandha village, sustained serious injuries when the boar attacked him while he was riding a motorcycle.
All three injured persons were rushed to the Rebana Nuagaon Community Health Centre, where their condition is reported to be serious.
Following the incidents, fear gripped the area as villagers reported repeated sightings of the wild animal moving across habitations. On being informed, a team from the forest department reached the spot and initiated efforts to control and capture the wild boar to prevent further attacks.
