Bhubaneswar: Odia youth Adarsha Behera, who was held hostage by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in Sudan for over a month, has finally returned to Odisha.
The abduction of 22-year-old Adarsha, who hails from Kotakana village in Jagatsinghpur district, by the RSF in Sudan, had sparked widespread concern among his family and the Odia community.
Upon his arrival at the Bhubaneswar airport, Adarsh was greeted by his overjoyed mother and father, who were overwhelmed with emotion. The reunion was a teary-eyed moment, with Adarsh’s mother breaking down in tears as she hugged her son tightly, said reports.
It is pertinent to note that Adarsh arrived in Bhubaneswar today, having departed from Abu Dhabi for Hyderabad the previous day. The Ministry of External Affairs brought Adarsh back, following a request from Jagatsinghpur MP Bibhu Prasad Tarai, who had demanded his rescue.
Speaking to the media, Adarsh recounted his harrowing experience, saying, “I was held captive for nearly a month and a half. They took me to the jungle and beat me mercilessly. I was kept in a dark cell, and they gave me only bread and biscuits to eat. I thought I would never see my family again, but I’m grateful to be back home now.”
