Bhubaneswar: The Forest Wing of Odisha Vigilance on Tuesday carried out a joint raid and seized a huge quantity of illegally stacked valuable timber from three locations in Tentulia village under Biridi police station in Jagatsinghpur district.
Acting on reliable intelligence inputs, the vigilance forest team conducted the operation on Wednesday. During the raid, officials detected and seized 276.52 cubic feet (Cft) of valuable timber, estimated to be worth ₹7,70,857.
Following the seizure, three forest offence cases have been registered in connection with the illegal timber stacking. The cases have been recorded as UD Case Nos. 10JSP, 11JSP and 12JSP of 2025–26 under Jagatsinghpur Forest Range of the Cuttack Forest Division.
Forest officials said further investigation is underway to identify the persons involved in the illegal timber trade and to ascertain the source and intended destination of the seized forest produce.
