Woman Dies After Green Papayas Fall On Her In Kandhamal’s Baliguda

Phulbani: In a shocking and tragic incident, a woman lost her life on Thursday while plucking green papayas from her garden in the Baliguda area of Kandhamal district.

The deceased has been identified as Chandrakala Digal, a resident of Gochapada village.

According to sources, Chandrakala had gone to her own garden in the morning to pluck green papayas for preparing lunch. While she was picking the fruits, several unripe papayas suddenly fell from the tree, striking her on the head and chest.

The impact caused Chandrakala to lose consciousness and collapse on the spot. Family members, noticing her condition, immediately rushed her to the Baliguda Sub-Divisional Hospital. However, doctors declared her dead on arrival.

Upon receiving information, Baliguda Police Officer Sambit Swain reached the spot, seized the body, and sent it for post-mortem examination. Police have initiated an inquiry to ascertain the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.

The unexpected death has plunged Gochapada village into deep mourning. The incident has left locals stunned, sparking widespread discussions about the fragility and unpredictability of life.
