Bhubaneswar: The former Head of Surgery at VSS Medical College & Hospital, Burla, has been sentenced to one year of rigorous imprisonment for bribery.
Dr. Sanat Kumar Mohapatra was also fined for demanding and taking a bribe from a patient for surgery. The conviction was handed down by the Special Judge, Vigilance, Sambalpur, following charges under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
The Odisha Vigilance department, which charge-sheeted Dr. Mohapatra, will now seek stoppage of his pension.
