Bhubaneswar: The forest department recovered the carcass of a bear near a pond close to Bankapatuli Haat on National Highway 20 in Keonjhar district.
While it’s being speculated that the bear died in a road mishap, locals suspect it might have consumed a bomb placed by poachers, said sources.
The actual cause of death remains unclear. After a post-mortem, the forest department officials buried the bear’s carcass.
An investigation is underway to ascertain the exact reason behind the bear’s death.
