Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi paid last respects to senior BJP leader and former Korei MLA Sanchita Mohanty, who passed away today while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar.
Taking to his X handle, the CM Majhi conveyed condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for the peace of the departed soul.
“We paid our last respects by viewing the mortal remains of Sanchita Mahanti, our party’s senior leader and former legislator from Korei. I convey my condolences to the bereaved family and pray to Lord Shri Jagannath for the peace of the departed soul. Om Shanti”, read his post.
Mohanty, who represented Korei in the State Assembly from 2004 to 2009, felt ill this morning and was rushed to a private hospital, where she died while undergoing treatment.
Several BJP leaders have expressed their condolences on her passing.
Born on September 17, 1958, Mohanty was the daughter of Rajendra Kumar Singh. She held a postgraduate degree in political science and Odissi dance, and later studied law at Utkal University. Mohanty was an active member of the BJP and played a significant role in politics.
