Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Vigilance sleuths unearthed approximately Rs 75 lakh in cash and several multi-crore properties linked to Jitendra Kumar Panda, Additional Tahasildar of Barang, Cuttack.
The cash was recovered from a locked house belonging to Panda’s mother-in-law at LB 187, Brit Colony at Badagada in Bhubaneswar, where she resides with the Additional Tahasildar.
The searches, conducted at multiple locations, also revealed properties:
- 2 triple-storeyed buildings in Bhubaneswar
- 1 double-storeyed building in Khordha town
- 1 two-BHK flat at Uttara, Bhubaneswar
- 4 high-value plots in Bhubaneswar and Khordha
- 100 grams of gold jewellery
- 1 four-wheeler (KIA Seltos)
- 4 two-wheelers
According to a release issued by Odisha Vigilance, one locker at SBI in Bhubaneswar is still to be opened. Besides, bank and postal deposits, among other investments, are being ascertained.
Panda, who joined government service in 1995 as a Senior Laboratory Assistant, is being investigated for possessing assets disproportionate to his known income sources. The Vigilance Technical Wing is assessing the value of the unearthed properties.
