Bhubaneswar: In a breakthrough, Customs Department officials on Tuesday seized marijuana worth approximately Rs 4 crore at Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar during routine security checks.
According to reports, the contraband was detected in the baggage of a passenger. The passenger was intercepted by Customs Department authorities when he was attempting to clear the airport with the illicit goods. The seized marijuana is estimated to be worth around Rs 4 crore.
Acting on confidential inputs about possible narcotics movement, officials intensified checks and intercepted the contraband in the passenger’s baggage. The passenger has, meanwhile, been detained for questioning, and further investigation is underway.
However, the concerned authorities are yet to disclose the identity of the detained individual. Further investigation is underway to ascertain the source of the narcotics.
