Bhubaneswar: Vigilance sleuths arrested the Additional Tahasildar and his office Peon of Chhendipada Tahasil in Angul district while accepting bribe.
Additional Tahasildar Prakash Chandra Nayak and peon Prakash Chandra Nayak were caught red-handed accepting a bribe of Rs 9,000 from a pleader for passing a favourable order in a mutation case.
The Additional Tahasildar had been delaying the process without any valid reason and demanded the bribe for completing the task. The pleader reported the matter to the vigilance authorities, leading to the arrest. The entire bribe amount has been seized, and searches are underway at multiple locations to investigate potential disproportionate assets.
A case has been registered against the accused under the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018 (Cuttack Vigilance PS Case No.39 dated 30.12.2025)
