Puri: A minor boy died and two others were seriously injured when a scooter carrying three persons was hit by a Bolero near Bhakta Salabega Temple, causing the scooter to drag until Balagandi Square.
The deceased boy has been identified as Shreyanas Dey, a resident of Kumuti Sahi area under the Puri Town Police Station. The other two injured are currently undergoing treatment at District Headquarters Hospital in Puri.
According to eyewitnesses, the Bolero was coming from behind and collided with the scooter, which was carrying the minor boy and two others. The impact was so severe that the scooter was dragged for a considerable distance.
Police, meanwhile, seized the vehicle and detained the driver for questioning. A cyclist was also injured in the incident.
The incident has caused tension in the area, with locals expressing shock over the mishap.
