Bhubaneswar: A cold wave has gripped Odisha, with Jharsuguda recording the lowest temperature at 8.8°C, followed by Keonjhar at 9.8°C and Bhubaneswar at 10.8°C at 5:30 am today, as per the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
According to the IMD, other cities experiencing chilly mornings include Balasore (12°C), Paradip (13.4°C), Chandbali (13.6°C), Gopalpur (14.6°C), and Puri (15.4°C).
Meanwhile, the IMD attributed the drop in temperature to the cold winds blowing from the Bay of Bengal depression.
However, no significant change is expected in the weather for the next 2-3 days. Temperatures are likely to rise by 2-3°C in the next 2 days, followed by a gradual increase in cold. The depression over the Bay of Bengal is expected to intensify into a deep depression on Friday, but it is unlikely to cause rainfall in Odisha.
