Jajpur: The Jajpur Excise Department has busted a major ganja smuggling racket, seizing 1 quintal 60 kg of the contraband worth Rs 16 lakh from a pickup truck. The cleverly concealed ganja was hidden under a layer of water bottles.

Acting on a tip-off, the District Excise Mobile Team intercepted the vehicle and arrested two individuals – Anand Bhoi from Boudh district and Anil Behera from Angul district. The accused were attempting to smuggle the ganja from Boudh to various parts of Jajpur.

A thorough investigation is underway to uncover the larger network and identify other involved parties.
