Bhubaneswar: The Home Department of the Odisha government has directed all major police, fire, prison, judicial, and allied institutions under its purview to immediately identify vacant posts and send requisitions to the respective recruiting agencies for early filling up of positions.
In an official communication issued on January 13, 2026, Special Secretary to Government-cum-Nodal Officer Subash Chandra Das has instructed senior officials, including the Director General and Inspector General of Police, Director General of Fire Services, Director General of Prisons, and heads of judicial and prosecution institutions, to take urgent action in this regard.
The directive follows instructions from the Chief Secretary, who has sought expeditious steps to address vacancies across departments. The matter is scheduled to be reviewed in the upcoming Meeting of All Secretaries on January 15, 2026, at 11:00 AM.
The Home Department also expressed concern that despite earlier reminders issued on September 18, 2025, and December 3, 2025, the required information for updating the Recruitment Web Portal has not yet been furnished by several organisations.
Officials have now been asked to submit complete details of vacant posts in the prescribed format by the same day to facilitate portal updates and enable informed discussions during the review meeting.
