Bhubaneswar: Emphasis was laid on the progress of departmental works in accordance with the 15-point guidelines issued by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, while the roadmap for achieving targets set for 12 months and 24 months under Vision 2036 and Vision 2047 was reviewed during a key review meeting of the Water Resources Department held on Wednesday.
The meeting took place at the departmental conference hall under the chairpersonship of Principal Secretary, Water Resources Department, Shubha Sharma. Senior officials conducted a comprehensive assessment of ongoing projects, policy implementation, and institutional reforms aligned with the State’s long-term development vision.
During the deliberations, key issues such as regular budget outcome reviews, implementation of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) signed by the Government for industrial development, and the Mission Karmayogi–based training calendar were discussed in detail. The system of periodic departmental reviews was also examined to ensure timely execution and accountability.
The Principal Secretary stressed the importance of optimal utilization of funds to enhance irrigation potential across the State, underscoring the department’s critical role in agricultural growth and water security. She also directed officials to ensure that all official correspondence and communications are issued in the Odia language, in line with government directives.
Further emphasis was laid on updating the departmental website to improve transparency and accessibility of information, as well as on strengthening the grievance redressal mechanism to ensure prompt resolution of public complaints.
The meeting was attended by Engineer-in-Chief Sagar Mahanti, along with other senior officers of the Water Resources Department, including Engineers-in-Chief and Chief Engineers holding various functional responsibilities.
