Bhubaneswar: Night temperature is likely to increase in Odisha as two active western disturbances over eastern India are expected to push moisture-laden winds into the state, easing the winter chill and boosting temperatures, according to the India Meteorological Department.
As per the IMD forecast, western disturbances on January 19 and 21, 2026, will bring relief from the cold wave, pushing night temperatures up by 3-5°C in eastern India over the next 24 hours.
In Odisha, the temperature is already on the rise, with several cities recording temperatures below 10 degrees Celsius. The lowest temperatures were recorded in Phulbani (6.8°C), Rourkela (7.5°C), Jharsuguda (8.4°C), Nabarangpur (9°C), Bhanjanagar (9.5°C), Keonjhar (9.5°C), and Anugul (9.6°C).
As per IMD prediction, Cuttack, Khordha, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, and Kalahandi districts are expected to experience light to moderate fog tomorrow. The regional weather office has advised to exercise caution during early mornings and late nights due to poor visibility.
