Bhubaneswar: In a major operation against cattle smuggling, Keonjhar police arrested 10 people and seized huge cash, gold, and vehicles in raids across multiple districts. The operation, led by two additional SPs and five DSPs, covered 46 locations in Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Bhadrak, Jajpur, and Khurda districts.
The smugglers have been produced in court today.
The seized assets include 1 kg gold, 3 kg silver, 11 four-wheelers, 13 two-wheelers, and mobile phones. Police expect to seize Rs 100 crore worth of property, with Rs 30 lakh cash, gold, and silver seized in Mayurbhanj and Rs 70 lakh cash, gold, and silver seized in Bhadrak.
The accused will face action under Section 107 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), with their properties likely to be confiscated. Minister Gokulananda Mallick assured strict action against cattle smugglers, saying the state government is committed to cow protection
