Bhubaneswar: Odisha is all set to host its state-level Fisheries–Animal Conclave 2026 (MPSO-2026) from January 21 to 23 at Janata Maidan in Bhubaneswar, in a bid to promote innovation, awareness, and prosperity in the fisheries and livestock sectors.
The three-day event will bring together farmers, entrepreneurs, Women Self Help Group (WSHG) members, experts, and exhibitors from across India.
A press meet held today at the Veterinary College Auditorium saw Fisheries & Animal Resources Development Minister Gokulananda Mallik providing detailed information about the conclave.
“This Samavesh will serve as a grand platform to raise awareness and enhance the productivity of fish farmers and livestock rearers across the state,” he said. The Minister also highlighted Odisha’s roadmap toward self-reliance in the production of milk, meat, eggs, and fish.
The event will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, while the valedictory session will be graced by Odisha Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati. Over 8,000 participants, including farmers, entrepreneurs, and WSHG members, will attend, with 348 farmers and entrepreneurs being recognised as Champions for their exemplary contributions. Additionally, the top 20 officers from the fisheries and ARD sectors will be felicitated for their work in advancing the industry.
Interactive sessions and expert panels will form a key component of the Samavesh, with 12 panel discussions on fisheries, livestock, and agriculture. A special program titled “Ask the Minister” will allow farmers to directly raise queries with Minister Mallik, fostering dialogue and solutions-oriented discussions.
The event will also feature a grand exhibition, with over 100 exhibitors from companies, NGOs, national institutions, state departments, and cooperatives showcasing modern technologies. Visitors can explore 208 stalls across three hangars, with live demonstrations in two open hangars including bio-floc technology, cage culture fish farming, high-yield crossbred cows, sex-sorted semen calves, and environmentally controlled poultry houses.
Open-space attractions promise to draw large crowds, with displays of Murrah Buffalo Bulls (“SURVEER” & “INDER” from Haryana), Kankrej Bulls from Gujarat, and Punganur cows from Andhra Pradesh. Visitors can also enjoy a virtual reality farm tour, dog shows, pet fashion show, selfie zones with PM, CM, and ministers, poultry experience zone, kids’ zone, painting exhibition, drone show, and laser show.
To kick off the Samavesh, a walkathon will be organized from Kalinga Stadium to Janata Maidan at 6 AM on January 21. In addition, eloquence and painting competitions will be held for students of veterinary, fisheries, and management colleges, with winners being awarded during the conclave.
Every evening, cultural performances showcasing folk and classical music and dance, including Sambalpuri, Dhemsa, Odissi, and Chhau, will entertain visitors. Notable performers include Ananya Sritam Nanda & Barnali Hota on January 21, Diptirekha Padhi on January 22, and Swayam Padhi on January 23.
Matsya-Pranee Samavesh Odisha 2026 (MPSO-2026) promises to be an inclusive platform, combining education, innovation, and entertainment, while inspiring Odisha’s farmers, entrepreneurs, and youth toward a more self-reliant and technologically advanced fisheries and livestock sector.
